One of the keys that led Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez to become the greatest figure in Mexican motorsport is precisely his infinite capacity to compete regardless of the circumstances.
This is not limited to Formula 1: as the popular adage goes, Checo wants to win “even on the track”. Or at least that’s what he demonstrated in a time he took to spend with his son and nephew on a recreational Go-Kart track.
The moment captured in a video that went viral on social networks shows how Sergio Perez’s offspring was fighting inch by inch to overtake another child when, at lightning speed, the Red Bull Racing team driver overtook them mercilessly, making them see only the dust.
Despite the fact that the little ones tried to catch up with him, ‘Checo’ Perez stepped on the accelerator to advance calmly and alone on the track where he was racing. Literally, for the Mexican, this was like “taking candy from a child”.
CHECO LOOKING AHEAD TO THE NEXT FORMULA 1 SEASON
The 2023 season of the world’s greatest motorsport competition is approaching by leaps and bounds, as the Bahrain Grand Prix kicks off next Sunday, March 5.
Facing his fourteenth season in Formula 1, Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez has shared his illusion as he says he feels he is in the best moment of his career. If in 2022 he finished third in the drivers’ world championship, imagining an improvement invites to dream of something historic for him and Red Bull Racing.
